JOB DESCRIPTION – PRODUCTION FOREMAN
The production foreman ensures that the production objectives and quality of the product delivered to the customer achieved. He/she must do so while ensuring that the members of his/her work team are engaged in achieving his/her objectives while working in compliance with the legislative requirements, the regulations pertaining to health and safety and the environment, and also based on the customer’s specific requests. His/her main function is to implement production activities in terms of days and/or weeks.

Health and Safety

Responsibilities |
Apply and enforce the company’s safety policies, standards and procedures |
Establish the culture (way of thinking and acting) and the mechanisms for ensuring the staff members’ complete safety and health |
Report all events involving a worker or machinery |
Understand and propose solutions to prevent the situation from reoccurring |
Safe job shadowing |
Analyze the tasks/Identify problems and find solutions |
Operations
Duties |
Responsibilities |
Ensure optimal use of all facilities and equipment and ensure maximum cost efficiency of them |
Use the facilities and equipment in a cost-efficient manner based on the objectives |
Supervise the performance of tasks by his/her work team and monitor the outcome |
Give a task to a worker and monitor the outcome with face-to-face contact |
Ensure product quality |
Bring a sample to the office every Wednesday/check daily with the lead |
Manage the work environment upstream and downstream from the crusher |
Go to the “pad” to check the operators’ work, the volume of crude, the space reserved for iron (two visits per work shift) |
Identify the reserves by product Direct contractors as required |

Participate in daily production shutdowns |
Attend the planning meeting with maintenance and bring information that could help with maintenance (Meeting at 1:00 p.m.) |
Prepare and send the production report |
Regularly send the “error free” report with all supporting evidence |
Visit/tour facilities’ schedule |
Have a constant presence on the job site (85% site, 15% office) 3 p.m. Prepare reports (Production, Disciplinary Notice, Incident/Accident/Material, Spill, etc.) |
Monitor the progress of the conveyor scales |
Inform the maintenance team when there is a difference of more than 200 tonnes. (one time per set) |
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS – PRODUCTION FOREMAN
Knowledge
- Secondary V training/Vocational training or other relevant diplomas;
- At least 5 years of related work experience;
- At least 2 years of experience in personnel management;
- Have an ASP Construction card and an explosives licence (an asset);
- Have a valid driver’s license;
- Proficient with Excel, Word and Outlook;
