JOB DESCRIPTION – TRUCK AND TRAILER MECHANIC
Supervised by the Mechanical Foreman, the Truck and Trailer Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for performing all repair work on the vehicles in keeping with a mechanic’s qualifications.
RESPONSIBILITIES – TRUCK AND TRAILER MECHANIC
- Perform preventive maintenance on vehicles;
- Perform mechanical inspections;
- Perform maintenance on emission control systems;
- Adjust brakes;
- Adjust clutches and their components;
- Remove and install clutches;
- Change gaskets on transmissions, differentials and axles;
- Perform minor repairs on transmissions and differentials;
- Program engine parameters;
- Change minor engine components;
- Diagnose and repair minor electrical problems;
- Diagnose and repair problems with compressed-air systems;
- Diagnose and repair hydraulic problems;
- Diagnose and repair brake problems;
- Diagnose and repair suspension and steering problems;
- All other related tasks.
REQUIRED PROFILE – TRUCK AND TRAILER MECHANIC
- Vocational diploma in heavy vehicle mechanics or other related field;
- Have four or more years of experience in heavy vehicle mechanics;
- Have Preventive Maintenance Program (PMP) certification from the SAAQ (an asset)
- Have a valid driver’s license;
- Have a tool box;
- Have a sense of initiative and independence, and be a team player;
- Have computer skills;
- Know how to use the insight programs (Cummins)
